Your heavenly Father wants you to be sure of your salvation and your sonship in His family.

How do you become sure?
By learning the true knowledge of what happened IN you when you put your faith in Christ.

Key Points:

  1. The Bible teaches that anyone who puts their faith in Jesus Christ will be saved.
  2. The Bible teaches that the moment a person puts their faith in Jesus Christ they are made righteous.
    • They Immediately go from sinner to saint – It is not a process!
  3. The Bible teaches that THE process we are to go through is renewing our mind.
    • Renewing the mind, or changing our thinking, doesn’t make us righteous.
    • It enables us to walk in the righteousness that’s already in our spirits.
    • Don’t confuse being made righteous with learning to walk in that righteousness

Part 1

There are far too many believers that do not know what happened IN them when they put their faith in Christ.

  • The Bible teaches that anyone who puts their faith in Jesus Christ will be saved.
  • The Bible teaches that the moment a person puts their faith in Jesus Christ they are made righteous.
    • They Immediately go from sinner to saint – It is not a process!
    • It is Immediate & permanent.
  • The Bible teaches that THE process we are to go through is renewing our mind.
    • Renewing the mind doesn’t make us righteous.
    • Renewing the mind enables us to walk in the righteousness that’s already in our spirits.
    • We want to learn to think according to the true knowledge of God so that the transforming power in our spirit flows into all areas of our lives.

Part 3

  • The process we are to go through is renewing our mind.
    • “Renewing our mind” is the process of changing our thinking.
    • Replacing wrong thinking (ideas, thoughts) with the revelation of Who Jesus Is, What He’s Done For Us, and Who We Are In Him.
  • Changing our thinking is learning to think according to the revelation of Christ in the Word instead of my own conclusions, man’s opinions, and religious tradition.
    • Example: What is “eternal life”?
    • Let’s continue renewing our minds to the reality that we are saints! There is no sacrifice we can make to solve the sin problem. The once-for-all sacrifice of Jesus solved the sin problem.

Part 4

  • We’re continuing to renew our minds, change our thinking, according to the revelation of the finished work of Christ in the Bible.
  • There is no sacrifice we can make to solve the sin problem. That’s why Christ needed to come.
    • Romans – The “Magna Carta” of the New Covenant we have with God.
      • Chapters 1-6: justified by faith
        • we died w/ Christ, were buried w/ Christ, & were raised with Christ
        • we walk in newness of life
        • dead to sin and alive to God
        • sin has no dominion over us
    • Chapter 7: Paul reminds us we are dead to the law (trying to achieve our own righteousness);
      • How futile it is.
      • He was an expert …
    • Chapters 7-8: Paul gives us the comparison of living in our own strength, according to the law (oldness of the letter), OR living in Christ’s strength in the newness of the spirit
