Part 1

When you put your faith in Jesus Christ, God gave you a new identity. Your new, God-given identity is righteous. 

  • God is a spirit. You were made in His image.
  • You are a spirit. The real you is a spirit.
  • You have a soul, and you’re living in a body.

Your spirit was made righteous. How righteous? As righteous as God.

2 Cor 5:17-18, 21

This new you is forever. You are forever righteous

  • This is from God. Given to you by God.
  • He does not give as the world gives.
  • Isaiah prophetically describes the results of what God has given us in Christ.

This was the Father’s good pleasure – to give you His righteousness. 

  • Eph 1:6 – “accepted” Gk word only used 2x in NT
  • Lk 1:28. Gabriel speaking to Mary, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!”


It’s so forever, that you have been seated with Christ.

Part 2

The Holy Spirit’s responsibility is to help you realize, walk in, and enjoy your new identity.

He will NEVER condemn you; NEVER hold your past failures against you.

Jesus became what we were so that we could become what He is. 

He will speak to you as Jesus speaks. He will never tell you that you’re believing God for too much.

Part 3

Consistently experiencing the abundant life Christ came to give you is directly related to how conscious you are of your righteous identity in Christ.

  • Learn of your righteous identity in Christ and speak it throughout your day.
  • Pr 28:1, “the righteous are as bold as a lion”
  • The devil has nothing on you and nothing in you! Jn 14:30

Religious tradition often teaches that our salvation is a fragile thing

  • If we think in that way, we will end up struggling more after we’re saved then we did before.
  • Romans 5:6-11
